Short answer
Teach Quran to children in short, regular lessons (15–30 minutes), starting with letter sounds through Noorani Qaida, then moving to short surahs. Use lots of repetition and praise, keep a fixed daily time, and have a qualified teacher check pronunciation so mistakes don't become habits.
| Age | Suggested lesson length |
|---|---|
| 4–5 | 10–20 minutes |
| 6–8 | 20–30 minutes |
| 9–12 | 30 minutes |
| 13+ | 30–45 minutes |
Start with sounds
Children learn letters best by hearing and repeating them. Point at the letter, say it, and have them say it back.
Keep it short and positive
Stop while they're still engaged. Praise effort, not just speed.
Memorise alongside reading
Short surahs like Al-Fatiha, Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq and An-Nas can be memorised by listening even before a child reads fluently.
Be the example
Children copy what they see. Reading Quran yourself where they can hear you is one of the strongest motivators.
